Abstract:

This ongoing dataset contains annual aboveground net primary productivity (ANPP) data from a study at the Jornada Experimental Range (JER) in southern New Mexico. The study was designed to assess the effect of interannual variability in precipitation on average aboveground net primary productivity (ANPP) in Chihuahuan Desert grasslands. The study began in 2009, has five precipitation treatments (see Methods) and contains 50 plots (10 per treatment). This data package contains 6-year (2009 to 2014) means of ANPP per plot. Annual and more recent data are available and will be released pending an upcoming publication.

Abstract:

This completed dataset contains soil moisture data from a study at the Jornada Experimental Range (JER) in southern New Mexico. The study was designed to assess the effect of interannual variability in precipitation on average aboveground net primary productivity (ANPP) in Chihuahuan Desert grasslands. The study began in 2009 and has five precipitation treatments (see Methods). While the study began in 2009, contains 50 plots (10 per treatment) and is ongoing, these data were only collected from July 2011 to December 2013 in a subset of 20 plots (4 per treatment). This dataset is intended to provide information about the amount of water in the top 30 cm of soil as well as verify that experimental precipitation manipulations are effective. Abstract:

This data set is comprised of daily precipitation totals, in inches, measured by Belfort
Instruments weighing rain gauges at 58 locations on the Jornada Experimental Range.
Locations and the dates during which data were collected at them were generally project-oriented.
See comment section (#20) for start and end dates for each location.

Days on which data could not be obtained (due to equipment failure, user error, and/or
other reasons) are flagged as missing within this dataset.  As of 31 December 2008 they
comprised 1,270 of the total 291,465 records, which is less than 0.44% of the data set.

Abstract:

Precipitation at 1 minute intervals for rain gauges 2-5 with R1 excluded due to periods of interruption.  Spatially averaged rainfall over the watershed is calculated in this dataset based on relative coverage of each rain gauge determined from a Theissen polygon map.

Abstract:

Estimated daily precipitation is calculated for each of 15 aboveground net primary productivity (ANPP) sites located in the 5 dominant vegetation zones on the Jornada Basin. The 15 sites were formally established in 1989 as LTER Study 268, but these rainfall estimates begin in 1980 using the closest rain gauge that provides a minimum resolution of daily precipitation data. The Methodology section describes this in detail. The rain gauges are detailed inthe file raingauge_picks.csv.

Abstract:

This ongoing dataset contains monthly precipitation measurements from a network of standard can rain gauges at the Jornada Experimental Range in Dona Ana County, New Mexico, USA. Precipitation physically collects within gauges during the month and is manually measured with a graduated cylinder at the end of each month. This network is maintained by USDA Agicultural Research Service personnel. This dataset includes 39 different locations but only 29 of them are currently sampled. Other precipitation data exist for this area, including event-based tipping bucket data with timestamps, but do not go as far back in time as this dataset.

Abstract:

Hourly summary values of averages of readings of the following parameters are made which are based on data recorded on a Campbell CR10(X) data logger: maximum, minimum, and average air temperature; maximum and minimum relative humidity; total precipitation; average wind speed; maximum wind speed; average wind direction; total incoming solar radiation; average soil temperature at 5cm and 20cm; mean dew temperature. From 1983 - 5 June 1991, readings on which hourly averages are based were made at 12 second intervals. From 6 June 1991 to present, readings on which hourly averages are based are made at 10 second intervals.
