Abstract | Rangelands of the U.S. are still providing basic provisionary sciences, such as food production, that they have over the past 150 years. However, these services are diminishing as Americans demand other products form these landscapes. This essay discusses a specific example of the demand for recreation that is having an important impact on the use of rangelands in California’s Central Valley. Because of the unnecessary use of rangelands by the general public, professional technical organizations need to work more closely with these newer areas to communicate the principles for managing these rangelands to support these newer goods and services. |
