The shepherding of sheep is essentially as old as the existence of man. Man's very survival, especially in harsh environments, at times has been very dependent on the attributes of sheep. His wealth has been equated to the number of sheep he owned, and his comfort and well-being were greatly enhanced by his flock of sheep.
