AbstractThe objective of this study was to identify principal foods of mourning doves (Zenaida macroura) in an uncultivated area of south-central New Mexico. Leopold (1921) named some foods in uncultivated areas near Albuquerque, but did not report proportions of the various items eaten. The only other report forma n uncultivated area in New Mexico (Griffing and Davis, 1974) identifies some dove foods in a shrubland in the southeastern corner of the state.
