AbstractMilk production data were collected weekly, using the weight-suckle-weight method, during the last 6 weeks of lactation of 67 beef cows at the College Ranch of New Mexico State University. These cattle were part of the crossbreeding project carried out by the Department of Animal Science and designed to evaluate the performance of Hereford, Brangus and their reciprocal crosses under range conditions. Data used in the present study included milk production, pregnancy status and body weight-change during lactation of the four breeds of cows and adjusted 205-day weight and grade of their respective calves.
