Abstract1. The 21 Dipodomys spectabilis used in the study had a mean body mass of 146.7 g. The animals were maintained in natural burrows, artificial burrows or the laboratory. In the laboratory body temperature, oxygen consumption and evaporative water loss were measured as they responded to burrow temperature, water vapor pressure and CO2 concentrations.1.
