Abstract1. Mean body temperature of Dipodomys spectabilis acclimated to 25 C was constant at ambient temperatures form -5 to 15 C, and was reduced int eh thermoneutral zone (20-30 C). 2. Lethal air temperature was 40 C. 3. There was no apparent response of body temperature to levels of CO2 normally found in the burrow environment. 4. There was a suggestion of decreased body temperature at decreased vapor density or increased saturation deficit. 5. The major factor affecting body temperature of D. spectabilis was ambient temperature.
