AbstractThe status of the coyote population in south-central New Mexico was studied during 1964 and 1965. Analysis of a dynamic life table indicates that the coyote population in south-central New Mexico is stationary. Two methods of relative census, catch per trap-night and density contact index, indicate that coyotes are equally abundant on the mesquite dune type and the desert grassland type.
